Nest Bedding Brand Profile

Established in 2011 with an official launch in 2012, Nest Bedding blends the traditional with the modern, offering both an e-commerce store and several physical locations. The company was founded by Joe Alexander, who came from a background in furniture sales and has nurtured Nest Bedding into one of California’s most-loved boutique chains.

About Nest Bedding

Nest Bedding prides itself on offering a selection of affordable mattresses in a variety of sizes. These mattresses are sold online in a traditional bed-in-a-box format, but they are also available in the company’s brick-and-mortar locations, which are located in a handful of states. Half a dozen of them are in California, for example.

These boutique mattress stores promise a pressure-free experience, with no pushy sales staff and a growing selection of American-made eco-friendly mattresses, pillows, bedding, and bedroom furniture.

The Mattresses

Nest Bedding mattresses have multiple levels of comfort and are available in several sizes. They include the bestselling Alexander Signature series, of which the Hybrid seems to be the most popular.

Available in Luxury Firm to provide additional spine and head support, this mattress uses titanium-infused foam, individually pocketed coils, and additional edge support. All of these things can help if you’re struggling with back, neck, and leg issues or just want a peaceful and restful sleep.

“Plush” and “Medium” options are available as well. The former is incredibly soft and may lack the support you need, but the latter sits at around a 4 or 5 on the firmness scale.

The Alexander Signature Hybrid mattress combines cooling layers, a 4 lb. memory foam layer, quality coils, and two layers of support foam. Prices start at $744 and increase as you scale up from a Twin to a Cal King.

The Love and Sleep mattress is a little more affordable, with fewer layers and options for Medium and Firm. There is also a Natural Hybrid Latex, which blends organic cotton, latex, wool, and latex to create a 6-layer hyper-cooling mattress.

All mattresses are built in the USA using sustainable methods. If you’re not sure which one is right for you, speak with one of the company’s advisors in-store, over the phone, or by Live Chat/Email (info below).

Other Products

Nest Bedding promises a “pillow for every sleeper” and sells luxury comforters, linens, children’s mattresses, mattress toppers, bedroom furniture, and more.

You can even buy a bed for the family pet, with options including a pet tent, a bolstered dog bed, and a wool dog bed. These products are made with the same love and attention as their mattresses and are guaranteed to be chemical-free, eco-friendly, and crafted by hand.

Ordering Information and Returns

One of the problems with the bed-in-a-box trend is that you can’t try the mattresses before you commit. Sleep Trials help to negate these issues to some degree, but they’re not as effective as many consumers would like for them to be.

Upon realizing that the mattress isn’t quite perfect for them, a large number of consumers will be more inclined to just cut their losses and get used to it rather than go through the hassle of sending it back. If they do send it back, not only do they need to contact the company and arrange a pickup, but some providers charge them.

It’s a good result for the mattress company, but a bad one for the consumer.

With Nest Bedding, you can try the mattresses before you buy it. Just drop by one of the company’s stores, try one out, and find the one that’s right for you. Of course, this option isn’t available to everyone. If you’re housebound, you may have the time and the inclination to return an unwanted bed and try again with another provider.

The Nest Bedding Sleep Trial lasts for 100 nights, and there is also a lifetime warranty that covers you for manufacturer flaws and defects. The trial will generally not charge you for a return, but it does limit you to one return per calendar year. So, if you buy a mattress that isn’t quite for you and think that another Nest Bedding mattress will be a better fit, we recommend waiting for this period to pass or buying from another provider.

It’s worth noting that if you return the mattress before the 30th day and it is unboxed, you will be hit with a 25% “restocking fee.” This is easily avoidable, however. Simply hold onto it beyond those thirty days and you can return it free of charge.
