The Best Walmart Medical Alert Systems

Walmart is a company that needs no introduction. It's a giant in the retail world with a reach that extends into multiple industries and covers almost every consumable. At Walmart, you can buy food, drink, clothes, guns, and homeware. You can even buy medical alert systems, and there are multiple options to choose from.

About Walmart Medical Alert Systems

As a major retailer, Walmart operates a little differently from other medical alert companies. Rather than paying an activation fee (in some instances) and signing a contract for monthly payments, simply pick up the unit that you like, pay a fee on the spot, and then you're good to go!

However, these units still connect you to emergency response teams and there are still some expensive services to cover, so many Walmart medical alert systems will give you a free month and then require you to sign a contract if you’d like to continue using the product. Others require no additional payments, but these aren't usually as comprehensive, and you may be sacrificing a few features if you go down this route.

The Best Emergency Response and Alert Systems

You can buy Walmart medical alert systems online or from your local store, but with so many different ones to choose from, it can be hard to know which one is right for you. We recommend taking a close look at the features and making sure they suit your needs. You should also double check the initial price and any additional subscription charges to make sure you know what you're getting yourself into.

We have listed some of our personal favorites below to lend a helping hand in your search:

MobileHelp Classic

We have reviewed MobileHelp in the past and have noted just how many features the company’s systems have. The MobileHelp Classic is one of the best and can connect you to a secure and helpful system without the need for a landline. It has a long range of 1,400 feet, comes with a waterproof button, and is easy to install. If you need a home alert system for yourself or a vulnerable family member, it is ideal.

There is a "but" here, though, and that concerns whether you should purchase from Walmart or directly from MobileHelp.

At the time of writing, MobileHelp has a discount on its monthly fees, which means you only need to pay $19.95 per month, with no charge for setup or shipping. You will even get a free lockbox. If you buy from Walmart, on the other hand, you'll be hit with an initial charge of just under $50 and while you'll get a free month, you'll be charged $27 thereafter.

MobileHelp lists its usual rate as $40 per month, and when you take this into consideration, Walmart might be the cheapest option if you're planning on using the device for at least a year. With those discounts in place, though, it's best to buy direct.

ATS Senior LifeGuardian

A personal emergency response system with a waterproof button that you wear around your neck. In the event of a fall, simply press the button and it immediately calls one of 30 programmable numbers, including friends and family members.

It's a simple system and it offers some of the most essential features that you’ll need, albeit without a direct line to emergency operators. It's quite expensive, costing around $120, but there is no monthly fee or activation charge, so that fee is all you pay!

Medical Guardian On-The-Go Guardian

The On-the-Go Guardian features a long battery life, can be worn on your wrist or neck, and comes with a clear and loud speaker that you can use to chat with emergency and non-emergency operators. It has many other features to look out for and you don't need a landline to set it up.

In the event of an accident, you're just a quick click and call away from connecting with emergency responders and getting the help you need. It provides users and family members with the peace of mind that they seek.

The first month is free with the initial $80 purchase but you will need to pay for the months thereafter, and these cost around $37 per month.

WellBe Smart Speaker

The WellBe is the most expensive option of the systems on this list, with a purchase price of around $170 to $210. It's also not a medical alert system. However, you don't need to worry about monthly fees, and it does offer a lot of great features.

The WellBe is an enabled virtual assistant that keeps track of your medication times, appointments, blood pressure, glucose levels, and more. It can also be used to play music, get the news, hear the weather, and more.
