You really can find everything at Costco, and that includes medical alert systems. The store doesn't have as many medical alert systems or devices as the likes of Walmart, but you still have a couple of options to choose from that may change periodically as new products are added.
What follows is a short list of the medical alert systems at Costco right now. You can find all of these in the Costco online store, as well as in many local stores.
Medical Guardian On-The-Go
Medical Guardian is a name we have written about several times already, and it’s one that often appears in discussions of the best, cheapest, and most feature-rich medical alert systems.
The Medical Guardian On-The-Go medical alert device is designed to be taken with you anywhere you go, whether you're in the home, yard, or going for a walk with friends.
It features a loud and clear speaker with two-way communication and is 100% water-resistant, so you can take it with you on those rainy days and even use it in the shower. This Costco medical alert system comes with a free lockbox, charging cradle, and a protection plan. It costs $89.99, features 3 months of Medical Guardian's monitoring service, and charges $39.95 to renew through Costco.
Usually, this is the point that we would compare the price of the Costco system to the one sold on Medical Guardian's website. Typically, you would find that in exchange for the up-front fee, as you're basically paying more in the short-term to save more over the long-term, but this alert system is actually exclusive to Costco.
The closest we can get is to compare it to the Medical Guardian Active Guardian, which has some of the same features and is also designed to be carried around. The Active Guardian costs $39.95 a month, but you can save more with an annual subscription and also get a free lockbox. For an extra $10 a month, you can add automatic fall detection, as well.
If you opt for the monthly option, the Medical Guardian alert system from Costco will set you back $449.54 during the first year and $479.40 per year thereafter. The Active Guardian will cost only $479.40.
The only other difference is that the Costco version is black and looks a little more stylish, and it also offers a free protection plan, which costs $6.99 a month more through Medical Guardian. With this in mind, and assuming you're buying a device for long-term use, it makes sense to opt for the Costco device, getting those additional free months of service, along with the protection plan.
Active 4G Medical Alert
If you like the On-the-Go Costco medical alert system listed above but need fall detection, this may be the better option.
The Active 4G is another Medical Guardian alert system that seems to be based on the Active Guardian, despite being listed as an exclusive to Costco. It offers many of the same benefits as the above but comes with fall detection installed. The renewal fee is just $39.95 a month, which is very reasonable for a medical alert system with automatic fall detection, but you will need to pay a little more initially.
In fact, the Active 4G alert system is currently listed at $124.99.
