It provides a home-like setting with a number of common areas for dining, socializing and entertaining.
The staff at Elmcroft of La Mesa offers assistance with activities of daily living, such as dressing, bathing and medication management. What makes Elmcroft properties unique is that the staff focus on the history, interests, hobbies and cultural heritage of each individual resident to care for them in the absolute best way possible. The percentage of women to men is about 70% and 30%, respectively. Accordingly, the activities director ensures everyone is represented in its daily schedule. There are both women’s and men’s groups with activities ranging from games, tea and pastries and “hang out with the guys.” There are also regular group activities every day.
Since La Mesa is right off the 8 freeway, staff and residents have quick access to all the features and local attractions in the San Diego area. There are farmer’s markets, car shows, events at Balboa Park, art galleries as well as a ton of outdoor activities to enjoy. The size of the bedrooms in the private suites is 11’ x 12’ with a closet, and fully-accessible bathrooms. The semi-private suites have similarly sized bedrooms but offer more storage space.
The building has one level, and it’s very easy to navigate. Since the building is completely secure, there is very little risk of residents wandering off. Residents can take walks along a path next to the community without much traffic noise, if any at all.
